About My Clients
I know that choosing to invest time, money, and emotions in finding a therapist and doing therapy is a big decision. I honor this decision by collaborating with my clients to identify their goals for therapy from the beginning— though I know goals often evolve with time. I offer an atmosphere of warmth, empathy, and acceptance that allows clients to improve their personal insight, grow in understanding of their relationships, identify personal needs, and explore inner thoughts and feelings.
My Background and Approach
*Currently accepting new clients in Oregon for virtual counseling.* I received my Master of Arts degree in counseling from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. I practice therapy from a trauma-informed perspective that incorporates cognitive methods (exploring one’s thoughts and beliefs) with an interpersonal orientation (understanding one’s relational and social context), while utilizing other evidence-based counseling techniques as appropriate for each person. While my background is in Christianity, I enjoy working with clients from all faith backgrounds and find that many clients wish to discuss spiritual topics in counseling. As a counselor it is most important to me to understand your values and provide support in living fully and authentically into your values.
