About My Clients
I know that it is through relationship that we achieve deep and lasting change. The therapeutic relationship is unique in the way it supports personal growth; we can set aside social expectations in order to explore how we truly feel. Through this work, I have come to know that we are cultural, spiritual and biological beings and bring this sensitivity and awareness to my approach.
My Background and Approach
Therapy is serious business, but it can also be enjoyable. I bring joyful humor as well as compassion to the work. With a background in religious, spiritual, and cultural studies I go where you need to go, holding space for your truth to emerge. I believe our problems are sacred answers in disguise, which supports a nonpathologizing and collaborative approach to treatment. We are already whole, no matter what circumstances have led us to seek counseling, and the work of psychotherapy is a process of remembering this wholeness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I received my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. I bring a rich life history and a background of cultural psychology into my clinical work. My approach is rooted in extensive time abroad studying, living, and traveling through diverse regions of the globe. From these experiences it was a natural step into psychotherapy. Many years traveling and working with people who had been through experiences I could hardly imagine changed how I saw myself and the world, and it certainly rearranged my priorities. I had seen so much; I had to be of service to this world. What I have come to know is that people who have been through transformational moments and have taken the time to invest in integrating them into their lives make the world a better place. I know without doubt: Doing this work really, really matters.
