I specialize in using a holistic, trauma informed care approach in working with women. I help women find balance in their busy lives.
Counselor in Snohomish, WA
When helping clients learn to manage anxiety, I use a multi-systemic approach. I first help them identify what the anxiety is being caused by, what is the somatic response in the body (what does it feel like in the body). We then focus on healthy coping tools. Sometimes we will explore external aides, such as aromatherapy, suppliments, exercise, etc.
When helping clients who may be experiencing burnout, I first help them identify if they are in fact experiencing burnout. We then come up with a plan together to address this. This can look different for everyone, but may include coming up with a leave of absence from work plan, identifying when the burnout first began, using exposure therapy to identify what were the triggers for bringing on the burn out, knowing if and when the client return to work, and self care along the way.
The foundation of helping women who experience sexual issues is education of their anatomy. We focus on identifying and releasing any sense of shame that may be associated with sexuality, which may come from social constructs, religious beliefs, abusive relationships, body shaming, etc. We then focus on how women can find pleasure from themselves alone, and how to affectively communicate with a partner about their needs, wants and desires.
I am a trauma informed therapist, meaning I've had ongoing training on how trauma affects the brain, the nervous system, and function. We work together to help identify and reduce your trauma response.
My approach is to always look at how resource someone is in three main components of their lives; mind, body, and spirit. We work together to find achievable ways to impliment supports and resourcing in all of these areas that can be woven into everyday life to help create balance. I will recommend using alternative therapies such as aromatherapy, reiki, supplements.
