About My Clients
My clients come to therapy ready to explore their neurodivergence, difficult parts of their childhood, heal relational and attachment wounds, or better understand how their past continues to shape their present. Others are exploring their identity including gender, sexuality, non-traditional relationship structures or simply becoming their most authentic selves. Many are healthcare workers or caregivers confronting their burnout and secondary trauma after years of caring for others.
My Background and Approach
My work is grounded in bottom-up and experiential approaches to trauma, recognizing that healing is not only about understanding our experiences cognitively, but also about developing a different relationship with our bodies, emotions, and nervous systems. With children I utilize Experiential Play Therapy, which honors play as a child's language and a meaningful pathway for connection and healing. With young adults and adults, I draw from my experience treating childhood trauma and blend it with approaches including parts work, coherence therapy and person-centered therapy. My experience as a hospital social worker has shaped the way I understand and support people in crisis whether they are experiencing suicidal ideation, self-harm or acute distress. I also have a particular understanding of the burnout and secondary trauma experienced by healthcare professionals and the ways that caring for others can affect our own well-being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe our emotional health cannot be separated from the environments and systems in which we live. My practice is informed by a commitment to racial and social justice and an understanding of how systems of oppression (including patriarchy, white supremacy and capitalism to name a few) can shape our experiences, relationships, access to resources and capacity to function. I strive to approach this work with cultural humility, curiosity and a willingness to explore both personal and systemic influences on well-being.
