About My Clients
I work with a range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for PTSD and trauma, depression, anxiety and grief counseling, as well as, couples counseling, and stress management. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my clients individual needs to help attain the personal growth they’re striving for. My style is collaborative, active and engaged as change happens within the relationship.
My Background and Approach
I work collaborative with clients to identify which tools and skills can provide relief and positive change. I am a certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapist. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a body oriented talk therapy and it's how I approach my work with clients. This means great focus on connecting with the body, developing skills to increase self regulation and thereby greater sense of control in life. No more being hijacked by old trauma or old patterns. I use 'homework' experiments, handouts and lots of education to help understand what's going on. I graduated from San Jose State University in California in 2005 with a Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology. I have since then worked in outpatient settings with a wide range of clients. I am also a trained Social Educator/Social Worker from Denmark.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My approach to life professionally as well as personally is based on a humanistic perspective with respect for the individual and with a focus on personal strengths and positive aspects. I appreciate honesty and believe it is particularly important to respect the individual’s integrity and right to self determination.
