About My Clients
Every person has a unique life path that has led them to a specific moment where help might be needed. Sometimes our paths are filled with temporary roadblocks that we cannot remove alone. These roadblocks to our preferred path may be relational, emotional, and professional experiences. At MyPath the mission is to support, validate and empower people to thrive on their chosen path and use therapy as a means to explore roadblocks and develop tools to grow in the midst of adverse experiences.
My Background and Approach
I am passionate about helping people develop healing and helpful strategies concerning emotional, relational, and professional roadblocks on their path in life. Once feeling effective, walking with her along her journey to re-storying past hurts, emotions, and experiences into a story of empowerment and growth is beautiful. As a therapist, this is the gift of therapy: a transactional experience of growth in the therapeutic relationship in which both I, the therapist, and the client walk along the path of reclaiming self-compassion and identity. In my work, I use warmth, humor, and a non-judgmental approach to develop a strong alliance with my clients grounded in authenticity and acceptance. Being a woman in a multicultural relationship who lives abroad, I understand the sensitive experiences of growing a unique yet beautiful relationship. In addition, I view therapy as a collaborative experience in which I encourage clients to approach challenges with curiosity and self-compassion.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone can learn from new experiences and grow in their ability to manage roadblocks to personal success in relationships, identity, and emotional awareness. Speaking of identity and growth, I am a European American married to A Filipino-Norwegian, living abroad and raising children in a multicultural community. Although beautiful and filled with new experiences almost every day, I understand the stress and miscommunications that can occur; resulting in feelings of loneliness, isolation, and hopelessness. Yet, if the roadblocks to your success our addressed in a non-judgmental environment, such as MyPath, growth and understanding of your experience can occur. When working with women from diverse and multicultural backgrounds (e.g., race, ethnicity, religion), I use a relational-cultural approach and use the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for success in therapy, along with compassion, understanding, and validation of experiences.
