About My Clients
Some of my clients are struggling with an eating disorder, disordered eating or negative body image or low self-esteem, while others feel anxious or depressed, or want tools to feel more resourced during stressful times. Perhaps you want support as you notice interpersonal or intrapersonal patterns that no longer serve you, and are motivated to change but don't quite know how. I'd love to support you in meeting your needs and reaching your therapeutic goals.
My Background and Approach
I use a combination of treatment types in my practice. In our initial session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and decide what would work best for progressing towards therapeutic goals. I integrate mindfulness techniques, somatic awareness, narrative therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy in my work. Cultural sensitivity, feminist and systems theory also underpin my work with clients. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, offers a way to view how thoughts affect emotions and behaviors. I work through a Humanistic lens; I view clients as experts on themselves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all have the capacity for change at any time through the lifespan. As someone who struggled with an eating disorder in my teenage years, I have experience navigating the complex relationship with food and body image. As a solo parent, I have learned about my own strength and resilience and I love helping clients recognize and celebrate their own strengths. Social justice is a value in my personal and professional life. I love spending time exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with my family including my border collie, who keeps me in line literally! If you want to learn more about how I could support you, please send me a message.
