About My Clients
I have worked in private practice for 3 years, specializing in trauma informed care and the treatment of Post traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), being a fundamental piece of my practice and her client's successes and progress. My goals for clients include creating a safe environment, providing empathetic listening, and processing trauma and negative beliefs so that they can live the life they deserve. I am inspired by people overcoming hardships and wants to assist her client's do the same.
My Background and Approach
I have strong experience with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I am trained in EMDR and worked on my EMDR certification, currently attending monthly consultations. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My treatment approach is client centered and trauma informed, focusing on metabolizing trauma and negative beliefs. I studied at National University, obtaining a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy, as well as at Dominican University of California, receiving my B.A. in Psychology.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that there is a neutral/positive way to approach things that are causing distress. I think that mindset holds a lot of power in us. I have first hand experience with addiction. I am a recovering alcoholic and compulsive overeater and find that attending recovery meetings are extremely beneficial to me. I look at many different approaches to substance use recovery and do not think one is better than the other. I have been a caregiver for my older parents all of my life and understand the complexities of caring for aging parents. I come from a Navy family and have extensively worked with the military population, understanding the in's and outs of system and how people are treated while being in service.
