About My Clients

I enjoy working with all, but I seem to connect best with teens through young adults. I find I work west with people wanting to explore dysfuntional family of origin and how those patterns impact them, have experienced trauma, or are in some sort of existential crisis. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or parent-child relationship problems.

My Background and Approach

I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Oklahoma. I graduated from Rogers State University with a Bachelors of Science in psychology in 2014, and from Southern Nazarene University with a Masters of Science in counseling psychology in 2017. I took several classes aimed at children, adolescent, and adult psychotherapy, and I did my master's thesis on Terror Management Theory. My graduate training and subsequent supervision and training experiences have molded me into the therapist I am today. I believe that having a strong therapeutic alliance is paramount for psychotherapy to work, and that therapy will not be effective if that bond cannot be established. I take utilize person-centered psychotherapy as my foundational base for therapy, and then I add modalities on top of that. Depending on what the presenting problem is, as well as how the patient interacts, I will use cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, or some other evidence-based treatment.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I grew up in a strongly Christian and conservative house, but have sense adopted a more progressive, secular-humanist worldview. I strongly believe in social justice issues, that healthcare should be a right and not a privilege, black lives matter, and that political and social issues do impact mental health either directly (like leading to anxious or depressive thinking) or indirectly (like access to and dissemination of treatment and healthcare). I strongly believe that decisions should be made based on evidence, research, and logic across all levels of life, and that medical and educated professionals should be listened to. I am strongly supportive of the LGBTQIA community, and that a person's gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and pronouns are valid and should be respected.
