About My Clients
Do you struggle to feel a sense of accomplishment? Do you feel lost or overwhelmed as you attempt to negotiate peers, dating, identity, a job/career, family, or your values? Maybe you've already identified areas that you're struggling with and need someone to talk to. Asking for help is hard, especially when you've been taught that being independent and self reliant is the gold standard. I'm here to be the help you don't want to admit you need, but you're searching for.
My Background and Approach
I see great value in being able to connect with individuals, couples, and families to feel heard and supported without judgment. My training comes from private practice, a residential setting, counseling teens and families and later transitioned to Kaiser Permanente’s Addiction Medicine Department where I have become a specialist working with individuals and families suffering with substance use disorders. I utilize my diverse experience working with individuals, couples, and families in a host of settings to support you with your unique circumstance and needs. I draw from behavioral change models, structural family therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and exploration of family of origin to help you develop agency in your life and work towards greater life satisfaction. As a therapist I'm not going to sit back and let you bounce around; I'm engaged through questions, bad jokes, and tracking patterns. We'll end up with a trusting relationship to help you make changes
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm not the trope of a therapist that is often portrayed in media; I own no cardigans, have never enjoyed a piping hot cup of tea, or sat quietly scribbling notes. I believe the research that states that the best predictor of progress in therapy is your relationship with your therapist. I do the one thing that no one else out there can do, I'm just me. I use humor and insight to help support you to make the changes you want to or need to make. My true goal in therapy is to help you figure out what you want and support that! Whether that's for you, for your relationship, or for your family.
