About My Clients
I work with a wide variety of clients, but over the years have received specialized training that qualifies me to work with young children (0-6), people seeking recovery from traumatic experiences, and people exploring unique aspects of their identity. In addition to these areas of specialization, I work well with clients seeking to overcome excessive anxiety and/or depression, children and adolescents of all ages, and parents.
My Background and Approach
I was trained at Smith College School for Social Work, an institution that is highly regarded for training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a form of therapy that helps clients reflect deeply, gain self-awareness and insight into the source of what's troubling them, and then resolve it! I am highly skilled in IFS therapy, as both a certified IFS therapist and approved clinical consultant. Other treatment modalities I provide include: TF-CBT, CPP, ERP, and ARC. Training aside, I really believe in therapy that is accessible, down to earth, current, and even fun. Once I really get to know you as a client, I might use metaphors, humor, and even pop culture references to build understanding of yourself in our larger culture and society.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Though I'll keep my personal processing about politics out of your session, I'm guided in life and as a therapist in liberatory frameworks, and a firmly rooted person-in-environment perspective. I welcome my clients to bring their identity into the therapy room, and when they ask me to, I'm willing to bring mine into the therapy room, too. You can truly talk about anything with me.
