About My Clients
My ideal client is someone who is looking to do the work to heal and wants to be able to get in a few laughs along the way. I take my job very seriously, but I like to be able to see people smile while we work. Therapy is hard and it takes a lot out of both the client and therapist, so I think it is necessary that I provide a calm and nurturing environment for us to work in. I work with adolescents and adults, regarding both addictions and trauma which can surface in real life in a lot of ways.
My Background and Approach
I am an associate licensed addictions therapist and mental health counselor in NC. My specialties are addictions, trauma, personality disorders, and family of origin experiences. I am here to help my clients escape from survival mode and step out of unhelpful patterns. I have worked at inpatient adolescent facilities including an inpatient substance use facility and then a behavioral hospital. I have worked in the private practice setting for two years now. I decided to come to this level of care so that I could feel like I had more ability to provide direct care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I care a lot about my clients and advocating for my community and humanity in general. I also care a lot about our animals and environment. I have volunteered with AFSP SC chapter and am trained in suicide prevention as well. I regularly write to our legislators about hot topics regarding access to mental health services.
