About My Clients
Are you concerned about your teen, or even yourself? Are you or your teen showing signs of an eating disorder or high amounts of perfectionism and stress, and noticing it taking over you lives? I’ve been there. I know how that feels. As a professional in recovery myself, I know how the overthinking and feeling like you are alone and in the dark can take over your mind. But there's a way out, and I'm looking forward to teaching you or your child the skills to take your life back :)
My Background and Approach
It is my intention to walk beside you or your child as we make your journey towards mental wellness- you are the leader and I’m along for the ride! Together we will identify concerns, explore values and strengths, and build a toolbox of skills fit to meet your unique needs and to set you up to conquer the world! I strive to be completely me, quirks and all, with my clients. By engaging in authentic connection, the trust that is necessary to face your struggles with eating disorders, body image, and other concerns can be built. I specialize in adolescents and adults with eating disorders but am also very comfortable with personality disorders, athletes and gifted adolescents. I utilize RO-DBT (Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) techniques with a dash of humor and personal experience. Together we will make the challenge of overcoming our struggles one that we can look back on with pride.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that my clients are the ones who are in charge of their future. While I take an active role in therapy sessions, I like to allow my clients to dictate the pace at which we move forwards and tackle new challenges. We'll start small and move upwards from there. It's my opinion that what often brings us into therapy was once something that was useful to us- whether it was to protect us from harm, embarrassment, shame, or sadness. But it isn't useful any longer and it's time to build some new skills to take the place of the old ones. Through my own experiences in therapy over the course of my recovery, I learned how to engage who who I really am and how to be proud of that woman- and I want you to be able to feel that same love and pride for yourself someday! I know that it can be daunting to face your struggles. But it is my intention for you to be able to grow to take on all of your goals in life and to have the kind of freedom that you truly deserve.
