My Background and Approach
Trauma and anxiety can keep us from living the life in front of us or taking the steps to make our lives fuller or richer. I've experienced how crippling anxiety can be from the inside out and I'm here to help you take control of your anxiety and take back your life. Traditional ways of working with anxiety typically focuses on challenging irrational thoughts and while this approach works well for many, for the folx I work with, this only seems to increase the anxiety. Instead, we learn to listen and befriend your anxiety; trying to understand why and where it's showing up in your life and learning ways to self-soothe, validate, and work with the anxiety, rather than against it. In this approach we often discover that difficult moments or experiences underpinning the anxiety and we can help process these through EMDR therapy. In addition to learning other ways to be with your anxiety, you'll also learn strategies to increase self-compassion and how to tap into your own inner wisdom
