About My Clients
I work with adults who are navigating the demands of life in a culture without a village. Parenting, perinatal, major life transitions, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, and navigating relationships are all concerns that my clients see me for. I work collaboratively with clients, allowing you to share your world, as I walk alongside you. There is healing and relief in opening up to someone. I'm here to be that encouraging support as you grow.
My Background and Approach
My approach starts with listening to your story and processing your thoughts and feelings, while identifying ways to leverage your strengths to find meaning, hope and joy in your life. My therapeutic style is client-centered with an applying a mix of evidence-based theories and techniques tailored to each client's personal needs. I love helping clients find what works best for them and their lifestyle, including breathing techniques, grounding, visualizations and mindful movement; and I integrate talk therapy with somatic/body-based work, when applicable. These integrations can all help strengthen the mind-body connection and reduce anxiety and stress. My background is in perinatal mental health and college mental health counseling, and I have specialized training and experience in perinatal and postpartum mental health, as well as trauma sensitive yoga and breath training.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I truly love helping others and guiding them toward discovery (or re-discovery) of themselves. If there's something you know you need to process and don't know how to start, I'm here to guide you, using patience and empathy to work at your pace. Our emotions are deeply connected to our mental and physical wellness, and we often receive messages to hold them in or keep them to ourselves. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, get creative, travel and soak in the sun. Some of my favorite activities are going to the beach, yoga, walks downtown or on trails, crafting, cooking, and trying new restaurants. I also love nights in with a good book or movie, and my snuggly pug, Olaf.
