About My Clients
Many of my clients are successful in their careers but are privately struggling with burnout, identity questions, distressing relationship patterns, or major life transitions. They often feel frustrated by therapy that focuses only on symptom management or quick decision-making, rather than helping them truly understand their deeper conflicts and unhelpful patterns. My work aims to generate lasting, meaningful change--and for clients to not need therapy any more.
My Background and Approach
I work hard to make therapy not feel too difficult for you. As a psychologist who has been in therapy myself, I understand the discomfort that can come with being in the "hot seat." If you're someone who talks a lot, I let you talk and gently guide you where I think we need to go. If I need to be more direct, I'll be more direct. If you're someone who is slow to warm up, I'll step in and ask questions and help you get where you want to go. Once we find our groove, our work will feel more conversational, not stilted or formulaic. I will pay close attention to what you're saying verbally and also what you are saying nonverbally. I'll observe this back to you, to help develop insight into unconscious thoughts and feelings. I check in periodically about your treatment goals, what's working/not, and how you're feeling about the work. In these check-ins, we discuss frequency and duration of sessions, because the goal of therapy is for you to no longer need therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I aim to be culturally humble--which means I work with clients of various backgrounds and beliefs. I do not impose my own belief system on you. I will assist you in understanding and working within in your own value system. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and have significant experience working with transgender clients and assisting them with their transition. I am especially passionate about helping individuals who are coming out in adulthood or later life.
