Part of my approach of treating is anxiety is helping to normalize the experience as our brain's way of protecting us. Every human being has a nervous system, which means every one of us experiences anxiety! By helping to normalize both the thoughts and feelings related to anxiety, we can start to make our anxiety work for us - not work us. I use a combination of mindfulness techniques as well as CBT and ACT techniques to make our anxiety a more manageable experience.

Depression is horrendous mind state and physical experience. We cannot understate the toll the last 2+ years has had on our collective psyche. By helping you understand the symptoms of depression as well as identifying any thoughts that may be contributing to your depressed state, I hope to help make your symptoms more manageable. Recovery is possible and seeking therapy is the first step.

If someone were to ask me what my favorite therapeutic issue is, it would be relationships! Relationships are fundamental to our human experience - both relationships with others and even more so the relationship with ourselves. Many of us live our whole lives in terrible relationship with ourselves. Through the therapeutic relationship, I hope to help you develop not only healthier, more fulfilling relationships with others, but also a more peaceful and loving relationship with yourself.

Psychodynamic therapy encourages us to reflect on past experiences and relationships and how these may be affecting our current relationships and general life satisfaction. Struggling in relationships with others? Taking a look at how we experienced relationships with early caregivers may help us better understand why we are struggling in the current moment. Exploring these experiences within the safety of the therapeutic relationship helps us make change in the current moment.

DBT focuses on gaining more control over our experience of emotions in order to create the life we want to live. DBT focus on mindfulness (being present in the here and now), emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is found to be very effective in the treatment of heightened emotional experiences, better interpersonal relationships, self-harm and suicidality.

CBT tells us that our thoughts influence our feelings which ultimately influence our behaviors. The belief is that if we can gain insight into our own thought process, we can have more autonomy over what our emotional experience is and our behaviors as whole. CBT is found to be very effective in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.

The term codependency, to me, is all inclusive of anything relationship related. If you find yourself struggling with people pleasing, poor boundaries, low feelings of self-worth, and struggling with toxic relationships, you might be a little codependent. Therapy can help you to identify why you engage in these behaviors and how to choose different ways of relating.

Whether it's a big T trauma (abuse, car accident, loss of a loved one) or little t trauma (lack of nurture, a bad break up, neglectful parents), intentionally processing either will provide both healing and internal and external change. I am here to provide a safe space to explore all of the above. I am currently receiving EMDR training and can utilize these techniques to help with reprocessing.
