About My Clients
I commonly work with people struggling with sexuality, gender identity, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am passionate about assisting others with improving their self-worth and self-image. I love to assist people with identifying their negative beliefs about themselves and empowering/guiding them to greater self acceptance. I additionally specialize working with caregivers and/or healthcare professionals who are struggling having a separate identity outside of these roles.
My Background and Approach
Growing up in a religious and conservative environment, I know what it feels like being taught that your feelings are "unnatural." I have personal experience with the feelings of stigma and shame that try to tell us we are not “good enough.” I also have personal experience with the impact that chronic pain and fatigue can have on our mental health. I have been working with others with physical and mental diagnoses for the past 11 years. I worked in the area of waiver case management for the past 8 years and am knowledgeable in that area. most commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy in my practice with clients. Sessions will start with getting to know you and the reasons you are seeking therapy. We will identify what you wish to accomplish and work on. We will start to identify how your thoughts and beliefs impact your emotions and how to change those automatic thoughts over time.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Hate DOES NOT make America great. I believe that it is imperative to always consider equity and recognize systemic oppression and racism. I respect everyone's experiences as their own and that everyone deserves a safe, non-judgmental space to express themselves and feel their emotions. I have learned that above all else, people want to be heard, and I believe it is my role in this life to hear people and empower them to live their best lives. You DO matter.
