My Background and Approach
My clinical work is influenced by my personal experiences, academic education and clinical training in psychology, psychotherapy, counseling, and hypnosis. I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and I'm Board Certified with the American Board of Professional Psychology in Behavioral & Cognitive Psychology. I'm Certified in Clinical Hypnosis and DBT. I have extensive training in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Clinical Hypnosis, EMDR, Energy Psychology, ACT, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. I’ve been a therapist for over 37 years and I have an eclectic and integrative approach. I recognize the critical nature of our early attachments and how they influence our current relationships. I will help you develop awareness about who you are and why. I am solution-focused. I will teach you coping skills to build resilience, and I will coach and support you in healing from within. I will help you tame your pain and anxiety, and recover from depression.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up as an only child and didn't have healthy role models in my family. I experienced repeated rejections and didn't develop healthy self esteem until later in my life. I took an interest in psychology in high school, and majored in it in college. When I went into personal therapy in my early twenties, I experienced the power of a non-judgmental healing relationship. I decided to pursue a career as a therapist and never looked back. Fifty years later, I enjoy doing therapy now more than ever. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the garden in which the seeds for positive change are planted and the therapy work is done. Permit me to create a safe supportive space for you to do the work you need to do to heal from your traumas. l am competent in using many therapeutic techniques and I will adjust my approach to your unique needs. I will maintain my non-judgmental neutrality so you can express yourself safely, and I will support you in doing the work that you need to do.
