About My Clients
You are tired of trying to function, perform, or get things right in a fast paced, capitalist culture. You constantly feel like you are not enough but you don't know what "enough" means. Maybe you don't identify as "Type A", but - if you are honest with yourself- you experience sneaky perfectionism and you find it hard to let go. Common themes in my work include anxiety, perfectionism, grief, stress, and high sensitivity in a world that feels harsh.
My Background and Approach
My clinical training focused on integrating culture, identity, and the body and nervous system in healing our suffering. I primarily draw from Intersectional Feminist ideas and ACT, an evidence-based approach that helps clients make observable and powerful behavior changes in their lives. I am collaborative and informal in sessions. I utilize humor and a gentle open heart with all of my clients. While we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to life. I work with my clients to increase flexibility and openness to new possibilities, work toward acceptance, and identify the power of choice we have when faced with uncertainty.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that no one should have to navigate life's challenges alone- our hearts and brains were never built for isolation. We can heal through connection with ourselves, our bodies, and each other. I believe that all bodies are good and worthy, and I am a Health at Every Size (HAES) informed provider. When we look our multitude of identities and understand where they are allowed to shine and where they face barriers or oppression, we can bring compassion to our stuckenss and find a way forward.
