LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy provides a safe and supportive space where you can focus on your reasons for coming to therapy without the fear of rejection or having to explain aspects of your identity. I understand why pronouns matter, the difficulty of navigating coming-out conversations, the pain of homophobia & transphobia, and the importance of gender affirming care. As a queer identifying therapist, I strive to provide safe, compassionate and identity-affirming therapeutic support to everyone.

Person-centered therapy, also known as client-centered therapy or Rogerian therapy, believes that you are the expert on your life. I believe that my role as a therapist is to create a non-judgmental space for self-exploration and consciousness raising, trusting your inner wisdom and self-knowledge.

Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT) asserts that individuals innately grow in the process of seeking relational connectedness while striving for authenticity. RCT can help you recognize unhealthy power dynamics, learn how to navigate conflict, establish safe boundaries, repair ruptures, and increase the number of growth-fostering relationships in your life.

Internal Family Systems (IFS), also known as parts work, is a mindfulness-based approach to self-acceptance and somatic awareness. Most other mindfulness-based techniques teach individuals to notice and accept one’s thoughts and emotions from the position of a “passive observer”. IFS, on the contrary, promotes an interactive approach that actively engages with a person’s inner ecology of parts.

Body neutrality acknowledges that body positivity is an unrealistic goal for people who suffer from severe body dissatisfaction and gender dysphoria. Rather than focusing on body size or shape, the concept of body neutrality reframes the body as a vehicle for life that requires self-care, rest, water, and food to survive.Body neutrality offers a more inclusive and realistic treatment goal for gender diverse people, as well as individuals with bodies that are disabled.

I believe that relationships are an essential part of one’s mental health and growth process. Approaching therapy through the lens of relational cultural theory and attachment theory helps people recognize unhealthy power dynamics, learn how to navigate conflict, establish safe boundaries, repair ruptures, and ultimately improve relationships.

Psychodynamic Theory explores unconscious processes, unresolved conflicts, and past relationships to increase client self-awareness and understanding. Engaging in psychodynamic therapy will help you uncover unconscious motivations, biases and social patterns that lead to self-defeating or unwanted behavior. Developing an understanding of your unconscious emotions will enhance your relationships by increasing trust and deepening connection with the people in your life.

Somatic therapy is a form of body-centered therapy that focuses on the interconnectedness of your mind and body. Somatic therapy is based on the foundational principle that trauma, stress, and unresolved emotions are stored or stuck in your body. By bringing awareness to your bodily sensations or pain, trapped emotions and trauma can be released from your body to promote healing both physically and mentally.
