LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy provides a safe and supportive space where you can focus on your reasons for coming to therapy without the fear of rejection or having to explain aspects of your identity. I understand why pronouns matter, the difficulty of navigating coming-out conversations, the pain of homophobia & transphobia, and the importance of gender affirming care. As a queer identifying therapist, I strive to provide safe, compassionate and identity-affirming therapeutic support to everyone.

Internal Family Systems (IFS), also known as parts work, is a mindfulness-based approach to self-acceptance and somatic awareness. Most other mindfulness-based techniques teach individuals to notice and accept one’s thoughts and emotions from the position of a “passive observer”. IFS, on the contrary, promotes an interactive approach that actively engages with a person’s inner ecology of parts.

I believe that relationships are an essential part of one’s mental health and growth process. Approaching therapy through the lens of relational cultural theory and attachment theory helps people recognize unhealthy power dynamics, learn how to navigate conflict, establish safe boundaries, repair ruptures, and ultimately improve relationships.

Psychodynamic Theory explores unconscious processes, unresolved conflicts, and past relationships to increase client self-awareness and understanding. Engaging in psychodynamic therapy will help you uncover unconscious motivations, biases and social patterns that lead to self-defeating or unwanted behavior. Developing an understanding of your unconscious emotions will enhance your relationships by increasing trust and deepening connection with the people in your life.

Somatic therapy is a form of body-centered therapy that focuses on the interconnectedness of your mind and body. Somatic therapy is based on the foundational principle that trauma, stress, and unresolved emotions are stored or stuck in your body. By bringing awareness to your bodily sensations or pain, trapped emotions and trauma can be released from your body to promote healing both physically and mentally.

In times of need, secure attachment reflects confidence in the availability and dependability of close relationships. The four types of attachment styles are: secure, avoidant, anxious-ambivalent, and disorganized. Each of these types of attachment styles are rooted in an individual’s childhood relationships to their primary caregivers, have been found to greatly impact the structure and behavioral patterns of an individual’s close relationships into adulthood.
