About My Clients

Are you constantly worrying about things? After a social interaction do you worry that you said or did something wrong? Does anxiety prevent you from living your life to its fullest? I know the feelings of anxiety- nausea, pounding chest, light-headedness, feeling like you can't breathe. I know how frustrating and scary anxiety can be. You don't have to keep living this way. We can work together to alleviate the symptoms and move towards living life the way that you want to live it.

My Background and Approach

When people come to therapy they are usually not feeling okay. I want to provide you with some immediate tools to make life easier. Treatment is a collaboration between you and me. We will work together to find which tools and methods work best for you. I like focusing on making small changes that will lead to big results. Once you begin to feel some relief from symptoms we can address some of the root causes of whatever you are going through. Treatment is not one size fits all, so I like to take things from different approaches to find what works for you. I primarily use methods from CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, and client-centered. When I began my career I worked in a rehab facility. Many of the people I worked with had anxiety and depression, which is part of what led to my interest in treating these disorders. For the past several years I have been working online, providing telehealth to people in the comfort of their own homes.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Everyone is welcome here. I believe that we all deserve a safe place where we can be ourselves. Throughout our lives, we learn various coping mechanisms. We stick with those coping mechanisms because they worked for us. Sometimes we grow and change, but our coping mechanisms don't. They keep us stuck and repeating things over and over again. I think that a part of therapy is learning different coping mechanisms and addressing areas where you might be stuck. Many therapists go into the field because we have first-hand experience with mental illness. I am no exception. I struggled greatly with depression as a teenager. Through my own therapy, I have learned how to manage it. I know my triggers, and I know how to care for myself in order to manage the symptoms and prevent depressive episodes from spiraling. I also have anxiety, and for years I had panic attacks. I learned new ways of coping with the anxiety, and I haven't had a full-blown panic attack in years.
