About My Clients

If you're feeling overwhelmed, lost or alone in your grief, you have come to the right place. Grief often weaves in and out of our lives in big and small ways, sometimes without notice. However, there are times when grief hits more like a tidal wave, so significant it shatters all that is familiar and known to us. I believe that in these moments, creating community, meaningful connections, and providing a safe place to express grief are important steps in healing.

My Background and Approach

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Grief Counselor with over 15 years of professional experience supporting those facing significant loss within the fields of aging, advanced illness, palliative and hospice care, and bereavement. I approach grief through a strength-based lens, honoring loss across the lifespan with empathy, patience, and authenticity. I believe in caring for the whole self, integrating the heart, mind and body into the work of grief and mourning. I offer an eclectic approach to counseling with a focus on talk therapy, mindfulness, nature-based, and expressive coping techniques. I respect and honor each person’s unique grief experience, and their cultural, racial, social, spiritual and family background and values in our therapeutic work together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a human being and counselor, I believe in (and continually work towards) practicing good self-care while caring for others in my community. Having spent many years in the field of hospice care and grief work, I truly believe in the importance of time with loved-ones, practicing gratitude, embracing the spectrum of human emotion, and seeking life-affirming activities whenever possible. For me, this involves paying attention to my own emotional needs, boundaries, and giving permission to care for myself as well as others. I am passionate about environmental issues, with a belief that nature heals and teaches us about life and death at all ages. I participate in the Homegrown National Park initiative to support local biodiversity. I support Black Lives Matter and am committed to being anti-racist in my work and personal life. I am also an advocate for animal rights and volunteer with AWLA (animal welfare). For fun, I love walking my dog, swimming and embracing rainy days.
