About My Clients
You’re not in a crisis. (Although sometimes it feels like you are.) There’s a nagging sense of feeling unsettled. A worry that if you don’t get it right, disaster will strike. Am I asking too much? Taking up too much space? These are questions that feel as familiar as breathing. (And yet logically none of it adds up.)
My Background and Approach
Therapy is a relationship. A unique relationship, one that doesn't ask you to take care of the other person. (Which is quite different from nearly all the relationships that you find yourself in. You’re an expert at noticing what the other people need. You deftly defer to others' wishes.) Therapy is a space for saying all the things you can’t say to anyone else. Together we sort through what works for you and what doesn't, what you want to keep and what you want to leave behind. It might feel like untangling a ball of yarn: it's all knotted up and in order to unravel it, all the individual pieces of string need to be carefully examined and pulled out. After pulling out lots of string, we get closer to making connections that you couldn’t see before. (Hover over the boxes under Specialties below to see what I have to say about each of them.)
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that personal transformation is what heals the world. (And that systems of power and privilege heavily influence each of us, both in and outside of therapy. Therapy needs to take that into account.) When you are connected with yourself, connected with others, in alignment with your power - that’s where you have the spaciousness, agility, and energy to extend toward the things that heal the world while bringing you joy.
