About My Clients
I work with clients from 16 to 96 and beyond. If you are experiencing grief, loss, anxiety, depression or any other mental health concerns, I believe that I can help you make the change you need. I have been in practice part-time or full-time since 2007 and in that time, I have seen numerous clients grow and positive changes in their life. Beginning therapy can be a little scary, put away your fear and give me a call. Together we can help you, become a better you.
My Background and Approach
I consider myself an eclectic therapist, which simply means I use a variety of therapeutic approaches. For each client, we work together to with the most appropriate approach to help facilitate the change that you need. I mainly use cognitive behavioral therapy because I find it useful with so many mental health concerns. This approach allows the client to find the answers to their concerns within themselves. You can find out which thoughts that you have which are beneficial and which ones are harmful and how to eliminate the harmful ones.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that anyone who is ready to make a change, or willing to make a change, is able to make a change. It can be difficult to make that change by yourself and that is why working with a therapist can be beneficial. As your therapist, I will guide you to get the change you need. I will use a variety of approaches and sometimes give you homework because change does not just happen in the therapy session. I can accept you for who you are and wherever you are in life. As an African American therapist, I understand that African Americans don't like to come to therapy or have negative views about therapy, if this is you, put those views aside and reach out give me a try.
