As an intersectional feminist, Brittney believes that there are complex issues that women experiences simply by being a woman within American society. Transgender women experience their own complex challenges and Brittney will explore all of these with each client. Some issues to explore might be: structural violence, self-esteem, assertiveness and boundaries, people-pleasing, and finding personal voice.

Rooted in Interpersonal Neurobiology, Brittney keeps the adolescent brain in mind. Adolescents have a brain that is still developing, seeking novelty, and working to discover their own life paths. Brittney will walk with adolescents to help them navigate the challenges that they face each day. She also understands that parents are an important part of this process.

Attachment Theory says that each child needs safe relationships from which to explore themselves and the world around them. Ideally, a child should have a secure, safe, and healthy relationship with primary caregivers such as Mom and Dad. How a child feels about himself in childhood is how he also grows up to feel about himself. These internal beliefs (or schemas) continue to help or hinder mental health in adulthood.
