Mental wellness is a corner stone to being a productive employee and happy person. Sometimes, this can disrupted after illness, injury, or disability can feel daunting. I help you navigate the emotions related to work stress and empower you to live a rich life.
My Background and Approach
I have worked with people in life transitions for over seven years. To include adolescents looking for their first "adult" job to seasoned professionals navigating a career change. I believe that therapy is not a one size fit all model. Rather it should be tailor made for the individual and their unique life goals. I use reality based therapy, pared with motivational interviewing to create a therapeutic relationship that is focused on helping you navigate workplace stress. I utilize expressive art therapy to help you visualize goal setting and keep you present with what goals are most important to you. My background as a vocational rehabilitation counselor makes me extremely knowledgeable about reasonable accommodation in the work place and medical disabilities. I have a personal and professional experiences working in veteran issues and veteran disabilities in the workplace setting.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that happy employees are the most successful employees. Work should bring you joy and that joy should carry on into your home life. I place value on feeling ebullience over stress at a job. In today's society there is a myth that work should feel lack luster in order to become rich or successful. Research has shown this is not true, rather research points to the fact that people that are happy are the most successful in life. I want my clients to walk out of a session feeling like they are empowered to confront work place conflict; clients should feel confident to nail that interview for a promotion; and proud that they are financially and mentally rich in supporting their families.
