About My Clients
I help people who are confused by their emotional reactions to make sense of their feelings, and to learn how to cope with their stress in order to heal and grow. I love collaborating with clients to build a sense of safety and a strong working alliance, particularly with people who have experiences of relational trauma. Whether you are totally new to counseling, or have been in therapy for years, I want to work with you during this part of your story. I do not accept insurance.
My Background and Approach
I use an integrated approach that is grounded in person-centered and trauma-informed theories. I also have training and experience working with: multicultural and feminist frameworks, Health at Every Size and intuitive eating modalities, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness interventions, and motivational interviewing techniques. I work primarily with adults ages 18+. I completed my PhD in Counseling and Counselor Education in May 2021, and have an MA in Counseling from 2012. I have 9 years of experience working as a licensed counselor, and over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Culture touches all aspects of our lives, and includes things like: age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race or ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, religion or spirituality, political views, body size and shape, and mental or physical ability. The intersection of these cultural factors impacts how we move through the world, and how others respond to us. I believe in working across differences to cultivate a safe, culturally affirming space for clients of all backgrounds.
