About My Clients
Are you struggling with basic life tasks? Does making decisions, staying organized, or regulating your emotions feel difficult or sometimes impossible? Are you, or do you suspect you might be, neurodivergent? Are you an exhausted, overwhelmed, burned out parent? Is your child struggling or presenting with concerning behaviors? Are you trying to cope with religious trauma? All of these things can feel isolating and even debilitating at times, but you are not alone. I'll walk alongside you.
My Background and Approach
I primarily operate from an emotion-focused therapy (EFT) perspective (I have an EFIT Level 1 Certificate), while also merging in some elements of internal family systems (IFS), narrative therapy, and existential therapy. I’m wholeheartedly and passionately person-centered, meaning that no matter who or where you are, I’ll meet you with compassion, understanding, and a commitment to helping you become your best self. With EFT, we will explore your feelings in an experiential way. Rooted in attachment theory, at its base, EFT is non-pathologizing with the notion that every feeling is reasonable even if it is not considered healthy or useful, when considering an individuals' current attachment style and access to supportive figures. By truly experiencing your feelings with me in real time, we can work together to uncover any additional underlying emotions and replace any unhealthy emotional reactions with healthier, more secure emotional responses.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Since I am whole-heartedly and passionately person-centered, I believe everyone is inherently good and we all have a natural tendency to strive for positive growth. Unfortunately sometimes our basic needs go unmet, or we are unable to develop secure attachments or provide a secure attachment base for our loved ones, which can cause various mental health issues to occur. But at the end of the day, a quote I read while I was deep in some narrative therapy research really spoke to me and I felt encompassed my overall belief system and approach to therapy and society in general - "People are never problems. Problems are problems." My ultimate desire is for all of my clients to find healthy ways to manage various issues, find some balance, exist authentically, embrace compassion, and to truly thrive as their best self.
