During my years of work with parents, I have assisted individuals with assessing their symptoms, offering education on skills, and offering a space for them to process their difficult experiences. This specialty comes with working with parents for 2 over years, attending a total of 4 days of training, and completing a certification exam; towards being a Certified provider. Our work together includes focusing on key skills, sharing your story, and helping you find support.

During my work over the years with women in substance use recovery, struggling with unhealthy relationships, and processing their body image and self-esteem concerns; the key conversations and skills needed were around processing their family memories and relationships and how they see themselves. During our time together, we can focus on processing difficult emotions, building self-compassion, and learning helpful ways to communicate towards meaningful relationships; just a name a few options.

I have been fortunate to work with individuals on their eating habits in many levels of care, in group settings and including their family. I have also been fortunate enough to pass along my information to other counselors and professionals, to help spread helpful skills and resources so that more people can receive help. Our work together will include figuring out what your goals are, understanding what support you need, and build skills so that you can build a life with hope and healing.

After completing a two day training on Motivational Interviewing, I followed up in further trainings with how this style of therapy can be used for those struggling with making change in their life such as those struggling with recovery from substance use and eating disorders. This style of therapy is helpful for people who haven't had success in the past with other therapies.

Dialectal Behavior Therapy is a main style of therapy for me, as it has 4 modules that have been proven to be helpful for people struggling with numerous behavioral health challenges including eating disorders, substance use, personality disorders, and anxiety. I have taken numerous trainings, and will soon have completed certification level of advanced training to helping individuals and groups of people make lifestyle changes towards a fulfilling life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on looking at how our thoughts and feelings impact our relationships with others and how we treat ourselves. Over the years, I have helps others understand that like weeds, unhelpful thoughts have to be dug up and pulled out by the underlying root of the idea and replaced with more helpful thoughts like building a garden full of flowers.
