About My Clients
I enjoy working with adolescents and adults in group, individual, and couple sessions. I view therapy as a team effort with you as the expert of your own life. Together we will define the problem(s) and work to create real and meaningful change. I will provide you with knowledge, skills, and support along your journey in addition to a warm, nurturing, and judgement free environment. Every person is unique and therefore I will provide you with an approach to therapy that is best suited to you!
My Background and Approach
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is important and therefore I want to get to know the real you and I want you to feel comfortable sharing and processing difficult emotions and feelings. I work from a trauma informed perspective that incorporates CBT, Gestalt, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. Together we will identify triggers, coping skills, and build resiliency so that you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin. My goal is that you when you leave therapy you leave confident in your skills and ability to handle any bumps along your journey. I am empathetic and supportive but also direct and solution focused. I like to be real with my clients and engage on a meaningful level. To me this means being vulnerable but also being bold and honest with our conversations. I look forward to discussing your setbacks as well as your achievements during your therapy journey.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an avid supporter of suicide prevention and education. I volunteer regularly with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and have participated in several community walks and 2 overnight walks. I am also allied with the LGBTQIA+ community and BiPOC community. My goal is to listen to the experts and support their missions. Together we can create a community where everybody is loved and accepted for being their authentic self. Additionally, I am working with several other professionals to research burnout among Mental Health Professionals. I believe that by acknowledging and addressing problems we can create a better mental health community for both providers and clients.
