In my work with children, I primarily use techniques derived from play therapy, particularly a modality called Synergetic Play Therapy from which I am completing my certification this year. I am eclectic in my approach with adults and pull primarily from client-centered theories of practice. I also have extensive training and certification through Jayson Gaddis and The Relationship School in how we do relationship with the individuals in our lives.
Coaching is results based and future oriented. It teaches concrete skills, uses timelines, and is about forming new habits. Coaching helps you step in to your potential by offering action steps and solutions to lead you to your desired outcome. It incorporates practice and accountability and is often more short-term than therapy, which can last for years. I have a Relationship Coaching Level 1 Certificate from The Relationship School and incorporate coaching in my approach.
I have 19 years of experience as a school counselor in an elementary school and an alternative middle and high school. I have diverse play therapy training but lean primarily on a modality called Synergetic Play Therapy. SPT honors both the therapeutic powers of play, the science that governs relationship, and the development of the therapist, recognizing that it is ultimately the interplay between these three systems that support deep transformation for both therapist and child.
Through my coaching and therapy experience I plan to help you become aware of your inner wisdom and act from that place. It will be through the refinement of the small, daily steps and authentic self- expression, while doing what is individually right for you, that more consistent life fulfillment will emerge. Coaching can help develop skilled and intentional choice making with increased resources. Consequently, a person is able to grow in confidence and capability in areas that are explored.
Kids often have to deal with a certain amount of intensity that is outside of their capacity to integrate. Thus, times arise in our role as parents where we may find that our children need help in a way that is outside of the structure and guidance that we offer as parents. As a parent, I have counted on others many times. I have 19 years of experience with kids of all ages as a school counselor and therapist which has taught me much about how to best support kids and families.
I have a Level One Relationship Coaching Certificate from The Relationship School and have learned and practiced proven methods for helping clients through their relationship difficulties. Most, if not, all of our major issues can be tracked back to ruptures in relationship. The type of relationship coaching that I do helps clients to understand our natural human limitations and tendencies. From there, methods can be taught and integrated to regulate and move through conflicts that arise.
