Anxiety is your body’s natural response to stress and ordinarily the feeling comes and goes without interfering with your quality of life. It’s a feeling of fear about what’s to come like having a meeting with your manager or trying something new.

Burnout is the result of chronic stress that hasn't been managed effectively and those stressors cause you to feel as though things cannot be improved for the better. If the stress feels never-ending and comes with feelings of emptiness, apathy, and hopelessness, it may be suggestive of burnout.

Have you experienced or witnessed a frightening event that you just can't seem to "get over"? Does this event still maintain a significant weight in your life through nightmares, flashbacks or cause unwanted and intense physical and emotional reactions? You may be experiencing symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder.

The cognitive model illustrates how a situation leads to thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that affect one another. When a person changes their thoughts, they can also change their emotions and behaviors. By targeting irrational or maladaptive thoughts, mood and behavior can be improved.

Multicultural and social justice competence is imperative in my practice as a clinician.

DBT can help people who have difficulty with emotional regulation and are exhibiting self-destructive behaviors. The four main skills utilized in DBT are mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance.
