About My Clients

Seeking therapy may seem scary because of the stereotypes that echo around mental health. At times these messages can be discouraging to those seeking help. Maybe you don’t know who you can be open and honest with about sexuality, intimacy, differing relationship dynamics, or other “taboo” topics or something just isn't "quite right". I offer counseling through the viewpoint that trauma, inequalities, gender and sexuality, and everything that surrounds us impacts us.

My Background and Approach

I have worked with a variety of individuals and families across the life span using talk and creative therapies to aid clients in healing and processing. I holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art Therapy and a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a focus on Marriage, Couples, and Families. I have several years of trauma-informed work including facilitating a Cognitive-Behavioral-Therapy curriculum to youth in the court system, being a public speaker and educator on topics related to sexual assault and domestic violence, and counseling children, teens, and caregivers moving through the adoption and foster care system before coming to Health for Life Counseling- Ada, MI. I specializes in topics and issues related to lifespan changes/transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics (couples, families, and other relationship groupings), attachment, communication, self-esteem, LGBTQ+ , sexuality and intimacy, and impacts of unhelpful social narratives.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have always been drawn to how creativity taps into the deepest parts of our mind, hearts, and souls. Even if we do not consider ourselves creators, we project our own thoughts, dreams, issues, and joys onto artwork, music, and dance. Because of this, I often use creative interventions in combination with talk therapy. My lived experiences showed me the importance of trauma, race, gender, relationships, spirituality/religion, and sexuality and how it impacts individuals on multiple levels. Many of these subjects are hard to discuss, can conflict with one another, and come with unhelpful social narratives. Due to this, I have become someone who values the importance of discussing topics topics through a social justice lens. The Black Lives Matter movement catapulted my anti-racist journey. As a white mental health provider, this journey and looking at my implicit biases will be ongoing, because not doing so is part of white privilege, and the work is never done.

I have experience with the following
  • Christianity
  • Wicca/Paganism
  • Interfaith
  • Multifaith
