About My Clients
Religious communities can provide a beneficial sense of belonging and support, but sometimes religious beliefs can be used to control, exclude, or shame people in ways that cause significant trauma. Religious trauma, spiritual abuse, and church hurt are real—whether you’re experiencing shame from purity culture, anxiety around religious spaces or symbols, difficulty trusting your own intuition, or grief over lost relationships or community—I’m here to help. My Background and Approach
My therapy practice is trauma-informed, grounded in mindfulness, LGBTQIAP+-affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, and strengths-based. Clients describe work with me as supportive, attentive, intentional, creative, grounding, mindful, and collaborative. Together we’ll work to deconstruct internalized beliefs that feel harmful and/or reconstruct a spiritual or meaning-making system that aligns with your current values, improve relationships, engage your inner resources, practice healthy boundaries, and rebuild self-trust. Whether you identify with a religious tradition, are a spiritual seeker, or identify with no religion at all, you are welcome here. I’ll meet you with empathy and compassion as you (re)discover your sense of identity, purpose, personal agency, and belonging on your own terms. Your stories and experiences are important, and they deserve a voice and to be listened to deeply.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value inclusivity and strive to provide culturally competent therapy, recognizing that issues that present themselves in therapy are likely informed by larger contexts and systems (family, cultural, societal, etc.)—including awareness of issues related to power, privilege, and marginalization. I have always been interested in and continue to educate myself about the diversity of the human experience—cultural values/practices, race, ethnicity, religion/spirituality, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, social class, and ability. I bring this curiosity with me, while honoring you as the expert in your own experience. I offer virtual (throughout KY, IN, and SC) and in-person therapy (in Louisville, KY).
