About My Clients
My clients are people who notice that they are feeling stuck in their growth, work, relationships, or personal goals. If you have come upon this page because you are feeling trapped or stuck and are seeking help, I commend you for taking that step and hope to have the honor of helping you adapt and change so you can open more opportunities for yourself. More specifically, challenges my clients notice are anxiety, depression, relationship dissatisfaction, loneliness, or addictive behaviors.
My Background and Approach
My practice offers treatment focused on helping you be effective in getting the experience you truly want out of your life. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression and trauma with Cognitive Behavioral psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). These therapies support anyone wanting to improve their relationships with partners, family, co-workers or community. Our relationships are not limited to other people. We develop habits - for better or for worse - with screens, substances, emotions, behaviors, and anything else we interact with in our daily lives. Learn to attend to these, gain more control. It is important to me to use the most effective interventions backed by evidence from behavioral health research and neuroscience. I offer EMDR therapy and other modalities focused on “re-calibrating” our responses to stress in order to support people who want to change habits that are keeping them from connecting to more positive opportunities around them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe first and foremost that as a therapist I should be working myself out of a job. You deserve to experience change in your therapeutic process that allows you to move on and flourish. I have a diverse background of experience in both my clinical practice and personal life. I grew up moving around frequently and valuing the pursuit of understanding others both as unique humans and as part of rich cultural backgrounds. I started my work as a therapist in largely hispanic and asian communities in California helping families overcome trauma associated with poverty, community violence, and systemic disadvantages. I have spent recent years focusing on supporting people to exit the criminal justice system and chemical dependency and I still love working with this population. After growing to love these populations, I have learned that my most effective approach to supporting my clients is often to be direct. I am not always a "soft" therapist. My cards are all on the table.
