About My Clients

Wounds from trauma or relational pain can hurt long after the original events. They can also lead to patterns which limit you in living your life fully now, such as isolating or, conversely, wanting to rely overly on others, not quite trusting yourself. Together, gently and skillfully, we engage and explore these wounds and patterns, paying caring attention to your present moment experience - and thus invite and allow healing, understanding, growth, and transformation to organically unfold.

My Background and Approach

Since growing up, I have been fascinated by the body-mind connection. Having studied this connection in myriad ways, my respect and appreciation for its power have only grown. I help clients find their inner voice and wisdom, which often speak through sensations, posture, gesture, and movement. At the same time, my work is holistic and includes working with all aspects of yourself: body, emotions, mind, and spirit. I have maintained a private practice since 1997; I taught at Naropa University for 12 years and taught for the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute for 20 years. My work is informed by various movement disciplines, EMDR, working with the integration of different parts of oneself, and by over 30 years of teaching and practicing meditation. One of my specialties is working with effects of trauma. Outside of my therapeutic practice, I have worked with political refugees, youth, in elder care and and with hospice clients.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

While we are fundamentally always alone with our experience - no one else can ever fully share it - other people who see, hear, know, and support us are crucial to our path through life. It has been an enormous privilege for me to be of service to others as a psychotherapist. I have worked with various kinds of trauma and, in addition, engaged in service in the world in different roles - such as working with youth, political refugees, hospice clients and elder care. I love my work as a therapist and always strive to hone my own knowledge, deepen my experience, extend further kindness, and acquire other therapeutic qualities and skills.
