About My Clients
It sucks to live with thoughts, feelings and beliefs that aren’t welcoming, hopeful or kind, doesn’t it? When that inner stream is clouded with shame, negativity or apathy, therapy can be a filter to clear out these toxins and make way for the new - the braver, the steadier, the integrated; the you that has the room and gumption to flourish. Getting acquainted with your badass, authentic self deserves your full attention, intention and compassion.
My Background and Approach
Leveraging somatic practices, the latest in neuroscience and clinical intuition, I am here to help you contact your innate self-righting capacity and embodied wisdom - a personalized treasure trove. Sessions with me often include: attention to the body and the breath, mindfulness and visualization, movement, talk, humor, Brainspotting and embodied metaphor. Let's get to it. I have a Master's Degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies in Somatic Psychotherapy. Before going into private practice with Grateful Heart and The Couples Center, I worked at the Center for Somatic Psychotherapy in San Francisco. And before that, I taught workshops on native and organic gardening, founded a company that imported architectural and garden antiques from Europe, parented two boys into their 20's and grew through it all with one long-term partner and a dog from the pound.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a relational therapist which means that I am a very real person in the room. Like you, I have a personality and values I hold dear. You should know, then, that I value unconditional acceptance, connection, deep love, side-splitting laughter, honesty and forgiveness. I also value imperfection, awkwardness and the messiness of life and relationships. I'm a fan of being human and all it entails. You won’t be alone on this journey though. I’ll be encouraging, championing and sleuthing alongside you to find new ways of being with yourself and others. My role as a therapist is also as a collaborator, a gentle nudge, and the voice of your most ardent supporter. As a therapist, my clients have described me as solid and kind (born of Midwestern parents), scrappy (raised outside of Philadelphia), straight-talking (middle of two sisters), intuitive and playful.
