About My Clients
I help my clients crack open the door to their emotional lives and tap into the wisdom of their feelings. Many of us have not been given permission to feel our feelings without judgment, let alone an education in how to process feelings, especially when they disrupt our day to day lives. Unprocessed feelings can lead to chronic depression, anxiety, isolation, existential crisis and self-harm. I help my clients process and interpret their feelings in order to build a more resilient, joyful life.
My Background and Approach
Counseling isn't about "fixing". It's about stepping into a place of curiosity from which to explore your life experience and better understand how that experience has shaped both you and your relationships. Counseling provides an opportunity to work with someone dedicated to supporting you in the exploration of who you are, how you interact with the world, and whether or not you'd like to make changes. I believe a counselor is there to point out new doorways and potential paths of exploration for growth and change that you may not have considered or had access to on your own. As we begin to understand our stories and acquire new skills, we become more resilient to challenges, more connected to others and more empowered to move through life's difficulties as we change and grow. I use a mix of evidenced based treatment approaches (such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, IFS) and incorporate mindfulness, philosophy and creativity into my approach to best meet client interests and needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Please note, I do not work with insurance companies at this time, but I can provide you with a Superbill to pursue out-of-network or HSA benefits if they are available to you through your insurance provider. I also have some sliding scale spots available. If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to ask! I'm happy to help. I became a counselor because I believe everyone deserves a chance to feel fully heard, supported and accepted. As we learn to accept ourselves, we are better equipped to accept others and build crucial life affirming connections.
