About My Clients
Focusing on ages 10 and up, Modern Trails Counseling provides support in a variety of ways for kids, teens and adults at any chapter of your life. Whether you're facing anxiety, self-esteem challenges, depression, a new chapter of life or something you just can't quite put your finger on we will work together to create the positive changes you for yourself or your child.
My Background and Approach
With over a decade of experience I specialize in ages 10 and up and have worked with a variety populations and in various environments. From working specifically with families and children managing a death loss, providing direct support to those in mental health crisis situations, supporting adults with severe and persistent mental illness with enhancing their lives, working with children and teens directly in schools from elementary and up and to running my private practice tapping into all of these areas, I have numerous tools to bring to the table. I utilize various modalities within my session as each person is so different. Rather it be play therapy with your child, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to focus on that negative self talk, coping techniques around mindfulness through the support of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), or focusing more on the now with Solution Focus Brief Therapy (SFBT), there is something out there that will help you reach your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Life can feel overwhelming and impossible at times but with the right tools, support and perspective, things can improve. I strongly believe that empowerment can be an incredibly supportive tool to continuing success outside of therapy. I don't believe your past defines you but I do feel it does take part in shaping you into the person you are today and can affect who you will be in the future. I always meet the people I work with where they are and will help guide them to their goals, letting them lead the way. Life can be so incredibly challenging but also amazing. Working as a team, problems can be identified, goals can be set, work can be done and change can take place. I'm just here to guide the process with some questions, activities, honesty, encouragement and occasional humor.
