About My Clients
I work with clients of all different backgrounds, but do have extensive experience working with folks struggling with disordered eating and body image distress, obsessive compulsive tendencies, anxiety, depression, trauma, and challenges related to gender and sexuality. I also provide letters for clients seeking gender affirming care and am committed to working with the LGBTQ+ community.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy centers around the belief that I am a consultant in your life rather than the expert. I believe that therapy is a collaborative, dynamic relationship wherein you are the expert of your experience and I am a tool to guide deeper understanding into what is and isn't working in your journey. For the last seven years I have been helping clients from a variety of backgrounds to move in the direction of making a meaningful, fulfilling life. In session, I utilize values based work to clarify what makes life worth living, support increasing insight into thoughts and core-beliefs, facilitate exploration into how unhelpful behaviors impact our ability to live fully, and more. It is also important to me to identify how social and cultural implications impact a client's mental wellness, and work specifically to support marginalized communities within those contexts.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work with clients of a variety of backgrounds and believe the presence of a mental health diagnosis should not be a precursor to receiving mental health care. The journey through life is complicated, and that alone is valuable to work through. If you are concerned about the stigma associated with receiving a diagnosis, please reach out as it may be possible to leave diagnosing out of the equation around receiving services.
