About My Clients
My passion is working with minorities such as disabled/chronically ill, LGBTQ+, and COVID cautious people. I love working with these populations because I know what it's like living in a world that wasn't built with you in mind. It can feel extremely isolating, especially not being able to find a therapist that gets it. I became a therapist to give people that feeling of relating. Knowing what it's like to understand the difficulties of microagressions, oppression, and discrimination.
My Background and Approach
I'm goal oriented, so working on something specific is key when doing therapy with me. I want to make sure that whatever is bothering you, we can work together to achieve a goal to make it easier to manage. I work a lot with trauma and am certified in EMDR, so getting rid of those awful flashbacks, nightmares, and panic attacks, is something I'm very well-versed in. Doing work to connect your mind to your body is also important. Mental health and physical health are related, so listening to what your body is telling you is helpful when working with your mental health, or if you just need a place to scream about how unequal things are, I'm here to listen.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I know what it’s like to have people not understand your situation or how you’re feeling. Finding support is a huge first step, so I'm already proud of you! You, or you and your partner deserve to have a feeling of peace and happiness. I focus primarily on disabled people simply due to the fact that I was born disabled and know the trials and tribulations you can face as a disabled person. Other minorities experience a lot of the same issues and I'm empowered to give you a voice when you feel like you're screaming into a void. Your voice matters. You have so much to offer. You are more than the box they put you in. You're more than the stigmas put on you. I'm an active member within the disabled and LGBT community and have done many presentations and interviews based on these topics. I'm here when you're ready. :)
