About My Clients
Maybe your brain rarely feels quiet. You replay conversations, worry about disappointing people, and somehow feel responsible for making sure everyone else is okay. Maybe motherhood has stretched you in ways you didn’t expect, or you’re balancing family expectations with figuring out what you want. I especially work with women & moms, including first-gen women, navigating anxiety, overthinking, burnout, trauma, postpartum changes, people-pleasing, boundaries & relationships.
My Background and Approach
I’m a Licensed Social Worker, but I don’t expect therapy to feel clinical or stiff. I want you to talk the way you actually talk. You can come in unsure where to start, jump between three things that happened this week, laugh in the middle of something hard, or say, “I know this doesn’t make sense, but…” We’ll make sense of it together. My approach is warm, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and collaborative. I draw from IFS, CBT, DBT, relational approaches, mindfulness, grounding, and nervous-system support, always adapting therapy to what works for you. We’ll look underneath the struggle while also working on everyday changes, like quieting some of the overthinking, understanding your triggers, setting boundaries without drowning in guilt, communicating what you need, and trusting yourself more. I don’t want you to just get better at coping with everything. I want us to understand why you’re carrying so much in the first place.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe a lot of us learned how to take care of other people long before we learned how to take care of ourselves. As a Black woman and first-generation professional, I understand that family, culture, identity, expectations, and relationships can shape how we move through the world. Sometimes choosing yourself feels uncomfortable when you’ve spent years putting everyone else first. I also enjoy working with neurodivergent clients. There isn’t one “right” way to think, communicate, process emotions, or move through the world. Therapy can be a place to understand yourself better and discover what actually works for you. And with couples, I’m not interested in deciding who’s right or wrong. Sometimes underneath the argument is really: Do you hear me? Do I matter to you? Are we okay? Whether you come on your own or with your partner, expect warmth, honesty, curiosity, and a little humor. You don’t need the right words. Just show up as you are. We’ll start there.
