Throughout my training and practice I had significant focus understanding the whole person and how they experience and relate to the world allows for a deeper understanding of our more unconscious patterns of behaviors. Further, these insights from past experience provide opportunities for empathy to heal emotional wounds or "chip(s) on the shoulder." Replacing blind habit with choice is key. I combine this with here and now techniques such as CBT.

I have completed level 2 of the 3 levels in Gottman Training. I integrate the concepts of Gottman Method and other couples therapy techniques into my practice with couples. Working with couples for over 12 years has given me the experience to help couples heal, grow, and thrive.

Although I tend to conceptualize from a Psychodynamic perspective, I find that insight and empathy alone are not enough. In my 15 years practicing I have always unitized cognitive behavioral techniques to help my clients identify and change problematic behaviors and also to bring relief to troubling symptoms. For some problems, CBT or Solution Focused therapy is the only modality needed to meet the clients needs.

In my 15 years of treating clients anxiety is the number 1 issue that I see. Through these years I have developed and honed the tools and understanding to help clients toward life long management of their anxiety. This usually involves in first alleviating debilitating symptoms of anxiety to a particular situation or trigger. Throughout treatment we work to correct cognitive distortions that perpetuate anxious thoughts and feelings. Finishing with the tools for long lasting success.

Having helped countless individuals cope with and overcome depression over my 15 years in practice, I have confidence in my ability to help you. Just like anything else in therapy, not all depression is the same. I can help identify the obstacles and shine the light on hope. I will work to inspire you to find the motivation to do what is necessary to overcome depression and develop more balance long term.

It is 12 years of experience treating couples and individuals with relationship problems that makes me a skilled professional. Countless books and continuing education workshops including Gottman Method Level 2 training have contributed to my skill set and approach. There is no instruction manual on choosing a partner, and if there was it would be useless after a couple years, because we all change. Luckily there are some foundations that can keep you united with love despite obstacles.
