About My Clients
Are you an adolescent or an emerging adult searching for a safe and welcoming space to explore your identity, purpose, and where you belong? Are you healing from experiences of religious trauma? You don’t need to have everything figured out, and you certainly don’t have to go through this alone. I provide support for young people like you who are navigating life’s transitions, deep wounds, and significant questions. Discover your path, embrace your story, and create a life that feels like yours.
My Background and Approach
I hold a BA in Interpersonal & Organizational Communication from Azusa Pacific University, an MDiv in Chaplaincy from Denver Seminary, and an MSW in Integrated Health, Mental Health & Substance Abuse from the University of Michigan, with certificates in Trauma-Informed Practice and School Social Work. Over the past decade, I’ve served in university residence life, as a college pastor, congregational minister, hospital and Navy chaplain during the pandemic, and as a school social worker in high-needs elementary schools. I now work with You Matter MI as a clinical social worker offering virtual psychotherapy. My approach is integrative, holistic, and relational—drawing on strengths-based, trauma-focused, and systems-informed modalities including parts work, mindfulness, somatic and cognitive therapies, sensory grounding, nervous system regulation, and expressive arts.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
There are five things I believe that deeply shape my practice: 1) Each of us holds the power to heal within; sometimes we just need help tapping into it. You are the expert on yourself—I simply walk alongside and partner with you. 2) We are all searching for meaning through our Identity, Relationships, and Purpose. I use the 3B’s to remember the way forward: Believe in yourself, Belong in a safe community, and Become your most whole and authentic self. 3) As Howard Thurman said, we must “hear the sound of the genuine” within, learning to hear, heed, and honor the inner voice of our authentic voice. 4) I am a passionate advocate for restorative justice, nonviolent peacemaking, and the decolonization of our lives and worldviews. 5) Spiritually, I am an inclusivist, seeking the light, good, and common ground in each person’s belief system. For me, this flows from my Celtic spirituality, which is life-affirming, love-centered, and holistic.
