About My Clients

My clients come to me because the old narratives they've been living by no longer fit, and it's time to write a new chapter marked by honesty, authenticity, and abundance. Together we explore concerns related to sexual and gender identity, religious or spiritual concerns, life transitions, relationship concerns, depression, anxiety, and more. Many of my clients identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, and are seeking to explore, uncover, and integrate the fullness of their identity.

My Background and Approach

I hold a MS in Counseling from UNC-Greensboro, and a Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University. In addition to private practice, I've worked as a chaplain in both psychiatric and medical settings, crisis support on a college campus, and even as a full-time camp and retreats director. The theme that connects them all? A passion for creating safe and supportive spaces for people to be seen, heard, and affirmed. My approach is compassionate, laid back, collaborative, and eclectic, drawing on a variety research and interventions designed to meet your specific needs and circumstances. Some interventions focus on feelings, some on thoughts, and others on behaviors. Some involve exploring the past, while others are focused on greater awareness of the present. Sometimes, what we need most is simply to have a safe, nonjudgmental space in which to feel heard, validated, and affirmed. Regardless of our approach, I am committed to meeting you where you are, and helping you meet your goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

We all deserve to be heard, understood, and affirmed for all of our beauty, messiness, and complexity. I'm here to help make that happen. I believe that we are all a work in progress; ever changing and constantly evolving in our thoughts, ideas, and understanding of ourselves and the world around us. I've been a client myself for over 10 years now, and in many ways I'm a completely different person than when I began. I know firsthand the power of a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings, or (as I often tell my therapist), simply to "recalibrate" as you continue to change and grow in light of new knowledge and experiences. I honor the full expression of all aspects of your life and identity, including sexual orientation, gender identity, age, race, ethnicity, religious or spiritual tradition(s), and ability. I strive to incorporate all aspects of your unique identities into our counseling work, while holding space for growth and change.
