About My Clients

My experience includes working with adult and teen individual clients who struggle with depression, anxiety and anger, as well as trauma. At the root of these challenging conditions is usually consistently negative thinking. Recognizing when thoughts work against us and identifying more accurate and compassionate ways of viewing ourselves and our challenges can help us gain the ability and confidence to manage difficult, overwhelming emotions.

My Background and Approach

I received my Master’s in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. I completed formal trainings in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy from the Institute of Creative Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) from the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. I have experience in crisis counseling at a suicide prevention center and teen crisis line. I currently work providing clinical services to military veterans struggling with addiction and mental health. My approach is trauma-informed and collaborative, designed to help clients gain a greater, more compassionate understanding of themselves while exploring how negative thinking can dictate unwanted shifts in mood. At the foundation of my approach is mindfulness, an increased awareness of ourselves in the here-and-now, while sparing judgment, which can lead to a greater degree of acceptance and improved self-esteem.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Life seems more chaotic and challenging than ever before. Surviving this chaos means taking care of ourselves. Entering into therapy can be a scary but important step to making life more manageable. The therapeutic relationship should be authentic, open and honest. How many relationships do we have in which we can be truly candid about what we are thinking or how we are feeling? My goal is to provide that environment of trust, compassion and, at times, even humor.
