About My Clients
My background has included clients experiencing depression and anxiety stemming from multiple areas, such as relationship and family difficulties. I don't want my clients to feel they have to fit in a box for me to help; pain and struggle comes in many different forms, and I am open to finding the best approach to tackle it collaboratively. Besides depression and anxiety, I also assist with motivation and self-improvement. Many clients present with specific areas they feel they're lacking.
My Background and Approach
The approach used will be tailored to the obstacles the client presents with. Concurrently, methods will not feel extreme or foreign, but will be evidence-based and flow naturally. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) works well for many issues, including anxiety and depression, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is a branch of this. These focus on internal thinking and acceptance of self. Alternatively, a client may have a more present goal less entangled with their past, such as struggling at work or not utilizing healthy daily living habits. Solution-focused therapy can be great at identifying and overcoming obstacles without delving deep into past behavior.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
A skilled therapist is both a great listener and knows how to read between the lines. Clients present because they have an obstacle they don't know how to fix. What is causing this? Why did this happen to me? What can I do to make things better? I am able to listen but also identify behaviors that may be getting in the way, or an alternate path that may prove more successful. Part of being a therapist is helping the client connect the dots. I am good at making clear the bigger picture.
