EMDR stands for eye movement desensitization and reprocessing - what a mouthful! It is used to treat PTSD as well as negative core beliefs and is a research-proven tool for treatment. I am a trained and professional EMDR therapist. I use hand-held tactile, music and audio, and visual BLS (bilateral stimulation). For clients interested in EMDR I do 3-5 sessions of rapport building and history taking before beginning EMDR.
Attachment was a foundational model in my Master's program and early on in my career, I was able to put it into regular practice while working in a residential treatment center for eating disorders. We have to be able to our full selves in relationship. We when learn that our emotions are too much for others or for others to be present we have to caretake or sacrifice our sense of self - things go ary. First we have to acknolwedge the injuries and then work towards healing.
