About My Clients
Are you feeling disconnected in your relationship? Feeling more like roommates that lovers? Couples Counseling can help! I bring a curious mind and caring heart to my work. I help couples recover from rifts in their relationship to find their way back to each other. Are you a parent of a child that is struggling and you don't know how to help them? I utilize play therapy to enter a child's world and help them express and work through the deeper issues that lie under their behavior.
My Background and Approach
As human beings we all feel - these feeling make life wonderful and fulfilling, but also can make it hard and overwhelming. I focus on emotions in my work because they show us what needs to be attended to and also, surprisingly, often reveal the path forward towards healing. This is especially true in relationships, and I have extensive training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. EFT is a well-researched approach that helps couples improve communication and feelings of closeness in their relationship. In my work with children, I am a Registered Play Therapy (RPT), which means I have received extensive training and experience in child development. Through their natural communication and expressive medium of pIay, I help children manage difficult emotions and learn new ways to cope with life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I feel very hopeful knowing that every person is capable of change and internal progressive transformation. I have experienced this transformation in my own therapy experiences and have witnessed it in my clients. I believe that as we relate more compassionately to ourselves, the important relationships in our lives change too. I know my own therapy experiences have made it possible for me to be a more attentive & emotionally-accessible husband and father. I identify as a follower of Jesus and attend a church in my community. However, I work hard to support other people's spiritual path and deeply honor their own spiritual tradition (including not having one).
